Large traditional software companies are excited to fire their engineers and replace them with AI. You can be excited to fire the software companies and replace them with AI. Their engineers can be excited to use AI to replace the large traditional software companies.
Some folks might find this all very daunting. What I want to do here is show you how I recreated a service I personally use so I could replace it with my own version running locally.
At one point I found myself with four different terminals open. I was trying to implement things in four different projects. I’ll be honest, I was getting confused. Oh where are the project managers when you need them?
How do you solve the issue that each streaming service has it’s own system to track what you like, what you want to see, and what you’ve seen? What if you want control over these things?
I know AI is being pushed on you from every direction, but it can also be used to defend yourself. You may not be a programmer but you can create software that works for you and doesn’t just extract from you.
